Innovation And Tech Expo : Located In Hangar 3

Take a trip into the future of fight in our all-new Innovation and Technology Expo at the Miramar Air Show. We’ve cleared out an entire F-18 hangar on the MCAS Miramar Flight Line to bring the most cutting-edge technologies and capabilities to you. You will get a glimpse into the battlefields of tomorrow as you journey through the emerging technologies your United States Marine Corps is exploring. This is an immersive experience, with hands-on demonstrations, virtual reality, and STEM exhibits. You can also interact with Marines and onsite industry partners. We’re sharing our stories of energy resilience, data science, communications, and unmanned systems in this expanded Innovation and Tech Expo experience inside Hangar 3 and we invite you to join us.

Here’s what to expect:

Energy:

Your journey starts with Marine Corps Air Station Miramar’s story of energy resilience. Stop by Indian Energy’s interactive and experiential booth to see a live demonstration of customizable mobile microgrid trailers that provide electricity and water. Also, you will see a variety of equipment options from plasma-cutting to air compressors and tooling for in-field operations. Indian Energy provides military-hardened microgrid solutions for critical facilities and mobile in-field operations. Indian Energy will be powering the entire Innovation and Tech Expo throughout the duration of the air show, without pulling from the San Diego power grid. There are giveaways and fun for the kids. Also onsite to show how the Microgrid can support flightline operations is Schneider Electric and Opal Fuels, MCAS Miramar’s partner in renewable landfill gas electricity from the City of San Diego landfill.

Data Science:

Your next stop in the ITE is Data Sciences. For the DoD to protect our nation at home and abroad, it needs the best technology available in any environment. Amazon Web Services (AWS) provides a global infrastructure and secure, scalable, and mission-focused solutions that helps the DoD meet mission, drive efficiencies, increase innovation, and secure critical workloads. You’ll have the opportunity to speak to an AWS representative onsite. Learn more at www.aws.com/defense.

Communication:

Verizon will be showcasing the latest in its line of next generation public safety communications innovations. THOR’s (Tactical Humanitarian Operations Response) Hammer is a nearly 30-foot trailer, developed with dual-core network capabilities. This enables enhanced operational flexibility and gives Verizon the ability to act as a private 5G standalone (or non-standalone) network that can be managed locally from within the trailer. THOR’s Hammer is built to leverage the network and technology of Verizon Frontline, including Verizon 5G Ultra Wideband (UW), along with applications and advanced computing solutions such as network slicing capabilities.

THOR’s Hammer could help provide secure, reliable, standalone 5G Ultra-Wideband coverage in areas where network connections and coverage can be challenging. It could also help where natural disasters like earthquakes or hurricanes have damaged existing infrastructure. Verizon Frontline, the advanced network for those on the frontlines, commits to delivering reliable and resilient mission-critical communication capabilities—whenever and wherever you need them.

Emerging Technologies:

DeLorean Aerospace aims to forever change the travel experience by enabling people to take to the skies and fly high above roadways. We’re providing a gridlock-defying solution to an outdated, ground-based infrastructure, democratizing high-speed air transportation while easing the burden on our city roads, creating a net benefit for all travelers. The DR-7 is electrically powered, producing no emissions, and is also possibly the most energy efficient airborne option for transporting up to two passengers.

Unmanned Systems:

Finish your experience with a glimpse into our Unmanned Systems capabilities. Kratos Defense’s high-performance aerial target systems and advanced unmanned tactical aerial platforms will be on display and speak to the Manned-Unmanned Teaming (MUM-T) operations in a contested environment. Kratos Defense & Security Solutions, Inc., a technology company in defense, national security and global markets and industry-leading provider of affordable, high-performance unmanned aerial systems is proud to partner with the U.S. Marine Corps and showcase its family of tactical and target jet drones, including our XQ-58A Valkyrie, at the Miramar Air Show.

The Valkyrie is changing the paradigm for tactical UAS technology. It delivers a combination of survivability, long-range, high-subsonic speeds, and maneuverability, along with the capability to deliver a mix of lethal weapons from its internal bomb bay and wing stations.
