The Miramar Air Show is just around the corner, and whether it’s your first time attending or you’re a seasoned air show fan, there are a few key things you’ll want to know to make the most of your experience. From arrival times to what to bring, we’ve got you covered. Here’s everything you need to know before you go:
1. Gates Open Early – Be Ready!
The gates to the Miramar Air Show open at 8:00 AM, giving you plenty of time to explore the grounds and secure a great spot for viewing the action. If you’ve purchased preferred seating, such as chalet or grandstand tickets, you’ll be able to check into your respective areas starting at 9:00 AM.
Pro Tip: If you’re planning to grab a great spot or enjoy some early exhibits, aim to arrive when gates open to beat the crowd.
2. General Admission and Parking are Free
One of the best things about the Miramar Air Show is that general admission and parking are free! You can enjoy the incredible performances without spending a dime on entry. However, if you want an upgraded experience with better views and amenities, preferred seating options are available for purchase.
Parking will be well-marked, but plan to arrive early to avoid long waits and secure a closer spot to the entrance.
3. Bring Ear Protection – It’s Loud!
Air shows are thrilling, but they can also be very loud, especially with the jets flying overhead. For younger attendees and those with sensitive hearing, we highly recommend bringing ear protection such as noise-canceling headphones or earplugs to ensure a more comfortable experience. For more information on where you can purchase ear plugs on-site, see our Help Page, linked below.
4. Prepare for Warm Weather
San Diego is known for its beautiful weather, but keep in mind that September can still be quite warm, especially with minimal shade on the tarmac. Be sure to dress appropriately, bring sunscreen, and stay hydrated throughout the day. Water stations and food vendors will be available, but bringing a refillable water bottle is a smart move to keep you refreshed.
