General Information

Q: I’m not a U.S. citizen. Do I need special identification to attend?
Yes. All foreign nationals, defined as non-U.S. citizens or anyone without legal permanent residence status, must possess and present a valid passport demonstrating their current legal status in the United States to gain entrance to the 2025 MCAS Miramar Air Show. Paper copies or pictures of the passport will not be accepted. All foreign nationals will be biometrically enrolled while passing through the security screening checkpoints entering the Air Show and will be required to wear an issued Air Show ID at all times.

Q: What are the dates for the 2025 Air Show?
September 26–28, 2025.

Q: What time do gates open?
Gates open at 8:00 AM. Ticket holders can check into their designated areas starting at 9:00 AM.

Q: Is the Air Show televised?
No, the event is not broadcasted.

Q: What if it rains?
The show proceeds rain or shine.

Q: Is ear protection recommended?
Yes, especially for children and those sensitive to loud noises.

Transportation & Parking

Q: Is public transportation available to the Air Show?
No, public transportation does not service the event.

Q: Can I use rideshare services like Uber or Lyft?
Yes. Pickup and drop-off are at the McDonald’s parking lot on Mitscher Way & Elrod Avenue. Rideshare vehicles may not access the flight line.

Q: How do I know where to park? Are shuttles available?
Upon entering MCAS Miramar gates, you’ll be directed to the closest parking lot. Shuttles are available from all lots to the flight line.

Q: Can I drop someone off at the flight line entrance before parking?
No, drop-offs at the flight line entrance are not permitted.

Q: Is RV or travel trailer parking available?
Yes, RVs and travel trailers are allowed onto the air station; however, overnight parking, tailgating, or viewing the Air Show from your RV/travel trailer is prohibited. All patrons must view the show from the flight line.

Q: Are buses allowed? Where should they park?
Yes. Buses should enter through the West Gate off Miramar Road. Note: If the bus driver leaves the station, re-entry may be difficult.

Q: Is handicapped parking available?
Yes. Vehicles with a handicapped license plate or windshield pass should enter through the West or North Gates off Miramar Road. Handicapped parking is first-come, first-served.

Q: Are handicap shuttles available on the flight line?
Yes. Limited handicap shuttles operate between entry/exit gates on the flight line. They do not transport to parking areas or specific chalet/seating locations.

Q: Can I ride my bike to the Air Show?
While you may ride your bike to the vicinity of the base, please note that there is no designated bicycle parking or secure storage area available. For safety and security reasons, bicycles are not permitted on the flight line or inside the Air Show grounds. We recommend alternative transportation options or parking in the public lots provided.

 

Amenities & Services

Q: How much is admission?
Admission, parking, and blanket seating are free. “Blanket seating” refers to open paved areas on the East and West sides of the flight line where attendees can sit on their own blankets or lawn chairs. Preferred seating options are available for purchase.

Q: I have a DoD ID card. How many tickets can I purchase?
With a valid Department of Defense (DoD) ID card, there’s no limit on box and grandstand tickets at the Ticket Office. Chalet tickets are limited to 10 per transaction. Military rates are available for Friday performance tickets.

Q: Is wheelchair access available in seating areas?
Yes. All seating areas are wheelchair accessible. Special wheelchair seating in the grandstands is available with paid admission on a first-come, first-served basis. Note: Grandstand seating is not reserved; first-level seating isn’t guaranteed. One seat may be removed from a box of 10 to provide space; all other seating areas are accessible.

Permitted and Prohibited Items

Permitted Items

  • Keys, makeup, feminine products, comb, phone, wallet, credit cards, etc. in your pockets if you choose not to put them in a clear bag or clutch
  • One large clear bag per person is allowed
  • A one-gallon Ziploc bag or commercially purchased clear bag plus a small clutch for personal items
  • Easily searchable large PVC vinyl clear bags
  • Clear seat cushions and seat pads without pockets, zippers, compartments, or covers are permitted
  • Snacks and water bottles
  • Wagons (i.e. radio flyers) and strollers
  • Service animals
  • Laptop computers/iPads, if brought in a clear bag. No laptop bags/briefcase bags will be permitted.
  • Binoculars/cameras
  • Beach folding chairs, lawn chairs, and stadium chairs

Prohibited Items

  • Coolers/ice chests are NOT permitted with the exception for medically necessary items which are permitted after proper inspection at a specified lane at each gate
  • Large traditional seat cushions that have pockets, zippers, compartments, or covers are not permitted
  • Outside alcoholic beverages
  • FRS/GMRS radios, VHF band and other scanners
  • Transmitters/trans-receivers
  • Bags, purses, totes, backpacks and other types of baggage other than bags conforming to the clear bag policy will not be permitted
  • Weapons of any kind (regardless of permit) to include, but not limited to firearms, knives (including pocket knives and multi-tools), replica or toy weapons, pepper spray, mace, stun guns, and martial arts weapons.
  • Outside alcoholic beverages
  • Ice chests or coolers that are not medically required
  • Pets (other than service animals)
  • Glass containers
  • Bicycles, roller skates, roller blades, scooters (kick and electric), skateboards, or hoverboards
  • Personal drones (i.e. quad or hex copters) are not allowed to operate on Federal Property or airspace.
  • Lasers or laser pointers
  • Tents, pop-ups, canopies
  • Hand umbrellas are allowed but are NOT authorized in the Grandstands or Box Seating at any time
  • Tailgating/BBQ
  • Federally banned substances such as illicit narcotics, and California legal substances like marijuana.
